Talking to people nearby

Townspeople and guild representatives discuss shared affairs with a clerk.

Approach people, introduce your character and leave room for a reply. Speech, visible actions and voluntary offers help keep a shared scene understandable.

Conversation

Ordinary text is for people nearby. Approach the person you want to speak to and write a line, such as: “Good day. Where can I hand in a parcel?” People outside the conversation area will not receive the message.

Unfamiliar characters have a neutral label. After an introduction, messages show the name you learned; the label above the character also shows their familiar name and may shorten it.

The other person's menu

Approach within three metres, aim at the other person and press the interaction key, E by default. A radial menu opens. Point the mouse towards a sector to highlight it, then click to confirm. The centre of the circle selects no action. You can also select an action with the arrow keys and confirm with Enter. Tab moves focus between actions; Esc closes the menu.

When listed in /help, /help people reminds you how to use the menu, introduce yourself and control the other person's voice for yourself.

Introductions

Choose “Introduce yourself” in the menu to send the other person a private offer to learn your name. The recipient opens the introducing person's menu and chooses “Meet this person,” then confirms “Remember their name” or “Not now.” This action is available only for a current offer from the selected person; the confirmation window does not open without the recipient's action.

You can also use commands: /introduce to introduce yourself to one person nearby, /introduce reply to respond and /introduce decline to decline. If the command finds several people nearby, step aside with your chosen person and try again.

You have 15 seconds to respond; stay near each other and in the same area until confirmation. If either person dies or leaves the game, the introduction cannot complete on this occasion.

The recipient learns only the name of the person introducing themselves. To learn their name in return, they must introduce themselves separately and you must accept. Confirmed introductions are remembered after you leave the game.

Giving money

Approach within three metres and open the other person's radial menu with the interaction key, E by default. Open the Trade section if it appears in the menu. Choose “Give money,” enter an amount in Groschen and select “Offer money.” The minimum is 0.1 Groschen; use at most one decimal place, with either a comma or a dot.

An offer alone does not deduct money. The recipient opens the sender's menu and its Trade section if present, chooses “Receive money,” checks the amount and the familiar name or unfamiliar-person label, then accepts or declines. Transfers use only the character balance shown in Belongings.

You have 30 seconds to complete the offer form, and the recipient has 30 seconds to respond. Stay near each other until confirmation. The transfer cannot complete if either person dies, leaves the game or moves to another area.

Esc before sending closes the form without making an offer. Once the offer has been sent, closing the panel does not cancel it: the recipient can decline or let it expire.

After acceptance, wait for the outcome without offering the same amount again. Balance updates may be delayed while the transfer is checked. Afterwards, check your funds with F7 or /balance; the other person sees their own balance, not yours.

Nearby voice

Voice is for people nearby: it becomes quieter with distance and is not transmitted beyond 25 metres. Configure your microphone and transmission mode in the launcher's options; the push-to-talk key depends on your settings.

Use the radial menu to mute or unmute the selected person's voice for yourself. This affects only you for the current session and does not mute them for anyone else.

Character actions

Use /me to describe your character's action. For example: /me carefully sets the basket beside his feet.

Describe your own action while leaving another player room to respond. Rather than “snatches the other person's purse,” write “reaches towards the purse on the other person's belt”: the outcome remains to be played out.

Visible details

Use /do to describe an observable detail. For example: /do Fresh mud stains the sleeve.

Describe what those present can notice. Do not state another character's thoughts, hidden items or unknown events as established facts, or decide what another character feels or does.

If there is no reply

Give the other person time to read and respond. Do not send the same line repeatedly. If you have moved apart, approach each other before continuing the conversation.

Check what you have agreed to

Action What agreement means
Accept an introduction You learn that person's name; they do not automatically learn yours
Mute someone for yourself Your current session stops hearing them; other people are unaffected
Send a money proposal The recipient can review it; money is not yet paid
Accept a money proposal Wait for the outcome before offering the same sum again

Closing a menu and refusing an offer are different actions. After returning to the game, remembered introductions and completed transfers should be checked through their own views; personal voice mute is only for the session. Read money and belongings before interpreting a delayed balance.

Command help

Enter /help to see the topics available to you. The reply is private. /help chat reminds you how to communicate, while /language helps you choose from the available languages.

Other topics cover /help account for sign-in and linking, /help character for character help, /help work for delivery and parcel returns, /help money for belongings and balance, and /help trade for trading offers. Choose a topic from your list: availability depends on what your character can currently do. If a topic is unavailable or its name is not recognized, help shows the available list.
