Lands and stewardship

Townspeople and guild representatives discuss shared affairs with a clerk.

Check which group governs a district, who is its steward and who can change that appointment. A political responsibility belongs to a specific place and current role.

Know which land is involved

Press F3, select your group and open “Territories.” The list contains only the districts it currently governs. Browse the pages if needed, then select a district to see its steward or whether the office is vacant. An empty list means the group currently governs no districts.

A district belongs to a political domain, such as a kingdom, lordship or crown. Check the district's name, its governing group and its current steward before discussing an appointment. These responsibilities belong to that game world.

Appoint a steward

Only the current leader of the group governing a district can appoint or remove its steward. The chosen character must be a current member of that group. An officer or ordinary member cannot make the appointment on the leader's behalf.

Agree on the responsibility with the intended steward and check the district and recipient before confirming a choice. Holding the title does not give the steward the leader's right to appoint others.

As leader, open the district, choose “Appoint a steward,” select a current member and read the confirmation before agreeing. To end an appointment, choose “Remove the steward” and confirm the district. Other members can view the office without changing it.

Wait for the outcome after confirming. If the reply is delayed and “Check the result” appears, use it for that same decision rather than submitting another appointment or removal. Refresh the list if the group's leadership or territory has changed.

Keep track of changes

Leaving or being removed from the group ends a character's stewardship. Rejoining the same group does not restore the title: the leader must appoint the character again.

When group leadership changes, the new leader becomes responsible for appointments and decisions about relinquishing control. The former leader no longer makes those decisions by virtue of their old role.

Relinquish control before dissolving

The current leader can relinquish the group's control of a district. Check which district is involved and discuss the decision with the group: relinquishing also ends its stewardship there.

Open that district, choose “Relinquish control” and read the confirmation before proceeding.

A governing group must relinquish all its districts before it can be dissolved. Transferring leadership is a separate choice for a leader who wants the group to continue.

Check the current responsibility

What changed What it means
Group leadership The new leader makes appointment and relinquishment decisions
A steward left or was removed Their appointment ends; rejoining is not reinstatement
Control was relinquished The group and its steward no longer govern that district
A reply is uncertain Check the same decision before sending another

Check group membership and the current district together. A private property key, treasury contribution or craft level does not substitute for an appointment.

Distinguish office from staff authority

Political titles describe roles within the characters' world. They do not make their holders project staff or give administrative authority over players. Handle disagreements with other players respectfully, regardless of either character's title.
